Both the week and the money have gone far too quickly.
Oh my, it has been quite a week! I wish I could say it has all been good, but life doesn’t always work that way. Unfortunately, there has been plenty of bad to go along with the good. Fortunately, the good still outweighs the bad!
The bad: My car needed to go in for an almost $600 repair. If that wasn’t bad enough, our pickup is now also in the shop for some muffler work and to finally get some sensor thingy (high tech term for “I don’t know!”) replaced. Fortunately Hubby did know what this “thingy” was. No idea yet of the cost as we weren’t in cell phone range for most of the day.
The good: Hubby is home to help orchestrate all the vehicle repairs! Another positive is that it is a three paycheck month. While I would have preferred to use it to pay down more of our debt, at least we can cash flow these repairs. Another positive is that today’s check is also enough to pay off our Visa, which will allow us to do a balance transfer for a lower interest rate of another debt.
Even more good: Our weather has been unseasonably warm. We have been doing some kayaking, hubby has gone fishing with a neighbor, and we explored two mountain areas and waterfalls not too far from where we live. Yesterday, after picking up our car and dropping off our truck, we made an entire day of it. We even went as far as packing up our small grill and having a cookout in a park. With a husband who travels for a living, we don’t get a lot of time together. No doubt we cram more into a few days together than most people do in an entire month. Other than about $20 or so in gas, everything we have done for fun the past couple of days has been free.
Today: Hubby is again fishing with our neighbor. Later this morning, we need to get our pickup and pay the repair bill. I also need to work both my part time job and work on a report for my seasonal job. At some point, grocery shopping also needs to happen.
The weekend: Hubby will be heading back to work. I’ll return to my primary responsibilities as a domestic engineer. With the repair bills, our budget also needs a bit of tweaking. I’m also eager to do a bit more with M-Turk, Swagbucks, eBay, and my side business. In other words, it will be back to life as usual!

Car repairs can be good. They remind us that we didn’t pay 40k for a brand new car with fewer repairs but with huge monthly payments! (And yay for 3 paycheck months!)

You are so right! I hadn’t thought about it that way! It is still cheaper to keep what we have going rather than take on a payment. I can’t imagine ever paying 40k for a new vehicle, even if we could afford it. Crazy!

Car repairs and not put on credit. A credit card paid off and time to enjoy nature – sounds all good! I sure wish I could give M-Turk a try LOL

I’m pleased, even with it taking so much away from our snowball. Had it not been for the extra check and vacation pay, our emergency fund would have taken the hit. Are you able to try a HIT? I wonder if the two just haven’t connected.

Paying off the Visa card! That’s great! Being able to cash flow those repairs is also wonderful. You’ve set yourself up for success!

Probably I am the only man reading this, and I hope that’s fine. My wife left this tab open in my macbook though. Couldn’t resist reading. Excuse me, ladies. Lol.

A few men have stopped by, so you’re not completely alone. As a bonus, you now know that your wife and other women don’t spend all their time only on Pinterest! Lol Thanks for your comment.

Enjoy that quality time! DH will be home late tonight for 2+ weeks and I already stressing on what he heck I am going to do with him and how to feed him! He is having knee replacement on Tuesday so I have a grumpy bear but I will take him no matter what the mood.
Great job on paying that Visa! Boo for car repairs…

Lucky you for 2+ weeks of home time! Funny, but I stress about meals too! I hope the knee replacement goes well. That hardly seems like enough time for the knee to heal. Sounds painful. 🙁
