Today we reached a balmy 25 degrees! The sun was shining, and not one snowflake was in the air. I can’t remember the last time we’ve had a snowless day! I spent a fair amount of time clearing snow on the driveway, the decks, and our various pathways. Snowblowing and shoveling, but it felt so good to feel the sun on my face.
I checked our propane levels a couple of days ago. We have a dual tank system (two 1,000 gallon tanks), and they were both reading 59%. At the end of last month, we were at 60 and 65. Most of January was very cold, so I wasn’t surprised at the level. Even with a woodstove going almost 24/7, keeping the house warm can be challenging during these cold spells without using the furnace. Our stove and water heater also use propane.
At some point this week, I will need to go to the city to pick up my two monthly prescriptions. One is ready, and I think I have a day or so before I can get the other one. I’m also creating a grocery list as I like to combine errands whenever possible.
One of my dad’s cousins passed away over the weekend. My dad and this cousin went to grade school together in the Netherlands. Interestingly, they both ended up living in the same city in the U.S. This cousin was one of the few relatives we had living nearby. Our families were very close. Just like my dad, this cousin lived a good long life. I believe he was 93. Still, it is always sad to see these old-timers pass away, but that is all part of life.
Not much else going on. Hubs was in TX today. He said it was hot, and he needed to use the a/c. He needs to deliver one last trailer before returning to his usual schedule, which gets him home a lot more. I’m not used to having Hubs so far away!
