Just a quick update on life here at A Dime at a Time.
Not a lot going on right now, so this is just a quick update of the past few days.
I sold two more items on eBay, netting roughly $30 after fees, etc. I found a couple more items to list, so I’ll work on that either later tonight or this coming week. Every little bit helps!
The zero percent interest balance transfer of $1,500 went through as did the $500 I sent to our smallest creditor. We are now down to a smidge over $1,400 and that will get paid with Friday’s check. My poor Hubby is having a tough time keeping track of these dealings. Fortunately, he is simply happy that we are greatly reducing the interest we have been paying every month and leaves the details to me.
I caught what I thought was a $150 mistake on Hubby’s weekly settlement from the payroll department at his job. Turned out to actually be closer to $300 we might have been shorted. In their defense, rarely do we find discrepancies. Still, this goes to show that it is good to keep a close eye on the check. Hubby works way too hard to be shorted any amount of money.
I thought I was going to have some extra hours at work this next week, but now it isn’t looking as I will be needed. While I would have welcomed the hours and pay since it wasn’t budgeted, I’m fine with it.
I scored a sleeping bag at the Goodwill for $3.99. This will be used as a replacement for dog bedding. I like to keep something for our dogs to rest on when I need to have them in the garage. What they had was looking a bit ratty and this sleeping bag is far cheaper than buying a regular dog bed. Yes, even the dogs need to make a few sacrifices as we dig our way out of debt! Lol.
I submitted for a whopping seven hours of pay for my seasonal job. And this is for two weeks! This week I need to work on an end of season report for an upcoming board meeting. Unless something more comes up, this job will completely end for me on October 1st. From a financial standpoint, we knew it was ending, so we will be fine. It will mean less of a snowball to send to our debts, but now with all the reductions in the interest we were paying, it should all balance out.
I’ve been watching all the weather updates, from storms to fires to flooding. For those affected, you are in my prayers. While it can be so easy to be self-absorbed in what is going on in our own lives, I know so many are battling things that are far worse. Please know that you are not forgotten and keep us posted!
