Lately, I feel like most of my posts are all gloom and doom. But, right now, I do have some good news! As of this coming Monday, Citi will be paid off in full! I wasn’t sure whether or not we’d be able to pull it off. But thanks to Hub’s having a bigger check than anticipated, we will. For good measure, I’m even sending an extra $25 towards paying off our furnace. That way I can now officially say that is the new target of our snowball. The year has been a tough one, so we really needed this win.
I’m also thankful that both sump pumps are still going strong. We had a super windy day today, so I stayed home to monitor the situation. Power outages aren’t that uncommon for us, especially on windy days. So although I planned to work on my business, I felt it could and should wait.
I did, however, go down to my neighbors to see how they were holding up. The last I heard they had several inches of water in their crawl space. I hadn’t heard from them, so I was concerned. A handyman who was working on their bathroom tile said he hadn’t seen them.
A few hours later, I went back over again. This time I walked around back to check on their crawl space. The three pumps weren’t running and using a yardstick, the crawl was now at 21 inches of water. I tried calling but only got their voicemail. Concerned, I did go inside (they never lock their doors) but saw nothing out of the ordinary. They finally called me a half hour later saying they had gone out of town (next state over) to do some shopping and would be back sometime tomorrow. Seriously? Who does that? They said they had shut the pumps off since the water was down to 2 inches and they didn’t want the pumps to run dry. Perhaps I’m overreacting, but I would think any amount of water would be cause for concern. Per their request, I did go back over and turn the pumps back on again.
Anyhow, enough talk about water. I’ve had (and have seen) more than enough of it! I think I’ll celebrate paying off Citi by watching a movie on Amazon Prime. I’ll make sure it is a free one that is included in our membership. Lol

Thanks! I’m happy for the win. We are blessed to have good neighbors. They’d do the same for me.

Thanks, Sluggy! Being a numbers kind of person, I’ve already been trying to figure out how quickly we can pay it off.

Thank you! Making progress is a great feeling. Somedays it feels like we’ve been on this journey forever. As for my neighbor, I know they’d do the same for me. Times like these, we’ve got to stick together!

Congrats on paying off the credit card. You have come so far in your journey. Yes, it has been a hard year but if this had happened before you got your finances in order, think how bad that would have been.

You are so right. I cringe at the thought of how much worse things could be if we hadn’t started the plan.
