Because sometimes we could all use a little motivation.
It’s finally here, my first Motivational Monday! I decided to start doing this as a way to encourage myself (and hopefully some of you as well) to earn and save more money. My goal is to make and save at least an extra $2,020 in 2020. This amount is in addition to our other goal of saving $12,000 for our fully-funded emergency fund.
I’m going to use Motivational Mondays to share what I was able to deposit into our savings account.
What makes the $2,020 goal different is that I am earning this solely from Amazon M-Turks. Another difference is that this money will be saved for our house remodel/addition. Until we pay off a significant amount towards our mortgage ($40,000), we don’t feel we can use earnings from our regular jobs to save for the changes we want to make in our house.
Motivational Monday also gives me something exciting to look forward to. Hey, who wouldn’t be excited about a major home improvement?
So, here it is the first of many Motivational Mondays to come. I have my account with MTurks set up to transfer my earnings to my bank every three days. The money first goes into my checking and on Mondays, I’ll transfer those earnings into a separate savings account. The past week was a bit off being a holiday and that I’m don’t want to account for what I earned last year. My first deposit of 2020 was $2.42. Don’t laugh. We all have to start somewhere! My next deposit is already shaping up to be MUCH larger!
Are any of you doing anything extra to earn or save more money in 2020? If so, what are you using for motivation?

I’ve resisted commenting before because as a high earner my tendency is to offer advice about earning more. But that’s stupid, I don’t know you, you aren’t me, who am I to come from so much unearned privilege and lecture you? I just want to say you have a great voice that inspires others. Heck, it inspires me. I’m wealthy because that’s what chemical engineers do. But I just did what was expected, you are fighting to do the unexpected. It’s fun following your story. I think your voice offers more hope than mine ever will!

Please never hesitate to comment. I’m always open to suggestions! I’d be hesitant to call your income level an unearned privilege-unless all you’re doing is sitting around drinking coffee all day long! No doubt you have worked hard along the way to achieve what you earn. I say this as a nurse who used to earn far more than I do now.. That higher income also came from working more hours than I care to remember! Kudos for being smarter with your money. Although I’m now managing my finances better than before, I still have much to learn.
It has always been my hope to encourage others. We all come from different walks of life and different sets of circumstances. One thing I do know is that whether rich or poor, educated or not, we all have something to offer. That is one of the very things I enjoy about blogging~there is always room to learn a thing or two!

I also want to earn at least 2500 points on Swagbucks each month and use it for Christmas this year.
Lucy says
I love reading about goals! That will be a nice way to offset the expense of Christmas!

The Swagbucks site is finally open for the Netherlands as of January 1st. 🙂

You mean I have an international reader? Lol I actually have a fair amount of family in the Netherlands. Glad to read Swagbucks is opening up for you. I’m pretty sure if I lived there, I’d be using swagbuck earnings to offset buying drop! Yum!

Yes, long time reader from the other side of the pond 🙂

How fun! Thanks for following my journey!
