Because…”If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time.” ~ Zig Ziglar
It is time to review the goals of last month and set some new ones for next month. Goals and outcome for May were:
- Increase sinking fund by $250. We have multiple things to cash flow in May, so this should be a reasonable goal. Goal accomplished!
- Earn $50 from Swagbucks. I need to keep reminding myself that every little bit helps! Made half of my goal.
- Reduce baby step 2 debt by $1,000. I am again setting the same goal. One way or another, this WILL happen in May! Yes, we did! I’ll divulge the details in my next post!
- Net $500 from my (very) part time job. Only missed it by $30 in April, so I want to see this happen in May! Scraped by with this one and ended up just a smidge over my goal.
- $50 snowflake from working as a poll inspector for a local election. I’m only working 6 hours, so after taxes, I think this is about what I will net. You don’t get rich doing this, but again, every little bit helps. In regards to politics, other than working the polls and giving my opinion (of course not during an election!), this is about as close as I like to get! Earned $90. I agreed to help set up and break down, which helped me make more than my goal. We have another election coming in August, and I’ll be working that one too.
All in all, I was pleased with the way May went. Of my five goals, I met four and even exceeded 2 of them. So how about some goals for June?
- Earn $25 from Swagbucks. I’m a lot busier right now, so I’ll be lucky to make even this much.
- Reduce baby step 2 debt by $1,500. Spoiler alert, we came close to that this past month!
- Net $500 from my part time job. With things picking up at my seasonal job, I’m not sure how much time I’ll be able to put in at that job.
- Cash flow several things for which we should have had sinking funds in place. Feels like we’ve been doing a lot of this since starting our journey to get out of debt, but still better than not cash flowing these bills.
With those goals now set, bring on June! Have you taken the time to set your goals for June? For those of you who set goals for May, how did you do?

My main goal for June is a 250.00 food budget using cash. Usually I spend between 500-650 so this will be HUGE!

That is a big reduction, but I’m sure you will find a way to make it work. Using cash helps me stay true to our budget. Keep us posted as to how you do!
