Mini Update and Other Ramblings

August 19, 2019 By: Lucy4 Comments

As of tomorrow, the Visa will be below $6,000.  Due to my confusion as to when the chimney sweeper will be here (next month, not today like I thought), I did indeed have $500 to throw at the debt.  This payment will bring the balance down to $5,923.39.  As for paying the chimney sweeper, I have roughly a month to figure that one out.  Hubs will have two checks before then, so I’m not too concerned.  And, of course, I also have money coming in each week from caring for the kiddo. Annoyances

August 18, 2019 By: Lucy6 Comments

Ever have a day where you feel annoyed for stupid reasons?  It is things that aren’t life-changing or even earth-shattering.  Today is one of those days for me.  In general, I try to keep my blog upbeat, because hey, who in their right mind would want to read about someone else’s annoyances?  But since you are already here, don’t say I didn’t warn you!  Read at your own risk! Friday Happenings

August 16, 2019 By: Lucy12 Comments

Visa has received another $300, bringing the balance down to $6,423.39.  I’ll need to see what next week brings, but I’m aiming to get it below $6K.  Today I also paid September’s mortgage payment.  Yesterday we received our electric bill, so I took care of that bill, too.  Thankfully it was down by $30 from the previous month.  I changed the settings on our dehumidifiers, which no doubt helped with the savings. Dinner, dishes, chairs, refunds and whatnot

August 12, 2019 By: Lucy10 Comments

It’s not every day that you get invited for dinner and leave with a full set of dishes and four chairs.  That is what happened to me on Saturday.  The dishes are a discontinued moose pattern that matches my home well.  One of the items left by the previous owner of our house was a pitcher and bowl set from the same collection.  My neighbor had a complete set of the dishes left for her from the last owner of her home.  Anyhow, to make a long story short, the couple who was visiting them brought her another set, and since my neighbor didn’t want/need it, they then offered the dishes to me.  I’m thrilled! Livelihood Scare

August 9, 2019 By: Lucy6 Comments

Yikes.  Nothing like opening official mail from your state informing you that your spouse can’t legally work!  It sure gave me a bit of a livelihood scare.  Hubs is required to get a yearly physical and get it updated with the state.  Well, someone dropped the ball on that.  He did his part, and his company was supposed to do the rest.  I snapped a picture of the letter and messaged it to him.  All is good now.  He texted me back that they handled it. A much needed day at home.

August 5, 2019 By: Lucy12 Comments

The past two weeks were so busy; I decided to take a much needed “me day.”  Between preparing for the visit with the kids and then working extra days, I can’t remember the last time I stayed home all day.  Given the distances we drive to go places, sometimes it is just nice to stay at home! Vacation is over. Back to business as usual.

August 1, 2019 By: Lucy14 Comments

Wow, vacation sure went by fast, but don’t they always?  We all had a great time.  It was fun having both our kids along with their spouses, and all the grandchildren gathered in one place.  One nice thing about living on a lake is that we didn’t need much for outside activities to keep everyone entertained.  We did take the time to go for a hike and see some local waterfalls.  For the rest, it was mostly enjoying biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and going for a couple of boat rides. Check and Debt Update

July 23, 2019 By: Lucy8 Comments

Yesterday we received the endorsed check back from our mortgage company for our collapsed deck.  Also in the mail was a separate package wanting a whole list of items.  It was things like the contractor’s license, signed contracts, a release of lien, intent to complete work, etc.  I was a bit miffed as none of this was discussed during my previous calls with the bank.  So, time to call them again.   [Read more…]

Financial Possibilities?

July 19, 2019 By: Lucy2 Comments

Well, thanks to our collapsed deck, our finances could get interesting.  I’ve hesitated to say too much (still do) but here is what is happening. [Read more…]

And now we wait

July 15, 2019 By: Lucy4 Comments

As promised, the check from our insurance company for our collapsed deck was in the mail and arrived on Saturday.  What wasn’t in the envelope was the adjuster’s report that I also needed.  Ugh, this after calling the rep from our insurance company.  All there was was a blip stating the reason for the check.  Being a weekend, I knew there wasn’t much I could do about it until today. Dear Stress, please go away.

Blogging away my stress.   Ugh, I hate it when money and life stress me out.  You would think that after all this time on this journey, nights like these would be a thing of the past.  Nope.  Here I am, stressing yet once again.  Usually, I would get up and blog about something with […]
