The Check is in the Mail!

July 12, 2019 By: Lucy14 Comments

Finally, we have some good news about our collapsed deck.  The check is in the mail!  As of Monday, I knew the adjuster was still dragging his feet, so I waited a day and reached out to our insurance company.  The person I spoke with said they had just received the information and given how long this has taken; they would put a rush in reviewing and getting the claim settled.  No surprise they went with the lower of the two estimates, minus the $300 the adjuster talked them down.  With that, and after our deductible is factored, we (and our mortgage company) will see a check of $13,700. This and That

Hubs made it home.  Yeah!  Two of our neighbors were on the flight with him.  One was coming back from a vacation in another state, and the other one was coming for their annual Summer vacation.  With only two flights coming in and out of our airport, this isn’t the first time Hubs has known other passengers.  Now if we could figure out how to coordinate these schedules and carpool, it would save someone some driving!  Haha. Shopping Adventures

Grocery shopping combined with business (inventory) shopping?  Sure, why not?!  With an FBA business, one simply can’t go into a store and NOT do both! [Read more…]

Getting Bids

June 14, 2019 By: Lucy6 Comments

We received the first bid for replacing our deck that collapsed under heavy snow.  It came in at a little over $15,000.  Keep in mind that this is a large deck, measuring 8 x 40 feet.  The work would also involve removing (and disposing of) the old one plus take care of the damage to the side of our house.  The total also includes replacing the crushed stainless steel venting pipe from our furnace.  Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.  The adjuster wants a second bid, so Hubs has been calling around for another contractor to come out and give us that.  I hope the adjuster quits dragging his feet as building time is short where we live. Busy Time with Hubs

June 10, 2019 By: Lucy12 Comments

Time sure goes by too fast when Hubs is home.  It seems like there is always a long list of things that we need to do. Here are a few of the things we worked on during his home time: [Read more…]

And I’m STILL plugging away!

June 6, 2019 By: Lucy8 Comments

Hubs came home for ten days, so I didn’t get much time behind my computer.  Thanks to those of you who checked in on me.  I’m still trying to catch up but wanted to give a quick update as to how we did in May. [Read more…]

Plugging Away

May 19, 2019 By: Lucy10 Comments

I’m still here and still plugging away at our darned debt.  There hasn’t been a lot going on, hence the lack of posts.  I did manage to send another $450 to our furnace debt, bringing the balance down to $4,900.  No change with our Visa as the billing cycle doesn’t close for another week or so.  When the bill does come, I’m ready! This and That

May 10, 2019 By: Lucy9 Comments

It has been well over a week since I updated the blog.  Not good!  I wish I had a valid reason, but my lack of doing so is pretty much a lot of “this and that” happenings. [Read more…]

Too Much Water

April 26, 2019 By: Lucy9 Comments

I’m not even sure where to start this blog post.  I’ve had a few tiring days involving too much water.  I guess I’ll go back to Monday morning where it all began. [Read more…]

Happy Easter and a Mini Update

April 21, 2019 By: Lucy10 Comments

First of all, I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter.  With the Hubs away, mine was very quiet.  No complaints.  I prefer it that way ~ well, the quiet part that is, not the Hubs being away part! [Read more…]

Taking Care Of The Four Walls

Food, Shelter, clothing, and transportation. Taking care of our four walls is something I needed to remind myself of today.  Financially, July has been a tight month for us.  Admittedly, some of this was our own doing as we pushed June’s debt snowball to the limit.  Finding a healthy balance has never been a strong […]
