The kiddo was released from the hospital on Monday, so as of Tuesday, I was back to work. He is doing well, and yesterday even threw a temper tantrum over needing to be hooked up to his tube feed. It wasn’t easy, but I won the battle! Although next month he will turn three (by birth age), he still has a long way to go.
I’ve often speculated how long my job with him would last. After his recent health scare, I don’t see him going to a regular daycare provider anytime soon. Lucky for me, the family wants nursing care. How they can afford it is beyond me. While he does have medical issues, they aren’t severe enough to be covered by insurance. My hunch is that the grandparents are helping out financially. At times I honestly feel a bit guilty collecting a paycheck from them.
MTurks has thankfully picked up again. Yesterday I was able to earn almost $10 while the kiddo was napping. For the record, the family is okay with me using my computer during this time. I feel it is a far better use of my time than watching tv.
For those looking to learn more about MTurks, I suggest checking out YouTube. There are a lot of different videos that do a far better job explaining how it works that I ever could. The process to sign up is pretty much straight forward. I will say that this platform is not a get rich quick type of thing.
When I first signed up (many years ago), I did very little with it. It was discouraging to see such little pay. Since at that time, I was working a regular job, it was far more beneficial for me just to pick up extra hours. Now that my situation has changed and I have more time, MTurks has become a nice way to earn a little extra on the side.
At first, the potential earning will look very low (because they are!) but once you reach certain milestones of work submitted, higher-paying work will become available. For example, yesterday I did a ten-minute task that paid me $2.82. Again, not a huge amount of money, but more than I would have earned watching tv!
If you do find anything confusing about MTurks, please ask, and I’ll do my best to try and explain it further. I know some other bloggers and readers may also be able to help out. Unfortunately, teaching isn’t something I excel at, but I am willing to try! If any of you know of any great “get started on MTurk” videos, please share!
Today is another workday for me, so I best get moving!

I might have to check out M-Turks to go along with Swagbucks – anything that earns extra money!!! So glad the little guy is doing better – if he is fighting the feeding tube, he is definitely doing better, lol. Quiet weekend here – just watching football – sorry Sam, GO NINERS!!!!!!!

M-Turks has been worthwhile. Like you said, anything that earns extra money! For a kid less than 30 pounds, he sure can put up a good fight! Lol Enjoy your quiet weekend.

Aside from your feelings about the money, I’m sure the family is so grateful to have a reliable carer in you. I know I would be, in their position.
