Because…”If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time!” ~ Zig Ziglar
A new month is upon us which for me means setting some more goals. While I may not always hit my goals a list gives me something to strive for. I also feel these monthly goals go hand-in-hand with the old saying “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!” It goes without say that my ultimate goal is for us to become debt free, but unless we win the lotto (we don’t play!) there is little chance to no chance of that happening in the next month. So for now, the best I can do is take it month by month until this debt is all gone. My goals for April are as follows:
- Add $500 to our sinking fund (money we are setting aside for irregular expenses). This will be a real stretch and is going to take some creativity. This fund is still severely anemic, so knowing these irregular expenses are coming is giving me a push to pad this account.
- Earn $75 from Swagbucks. With my seasonal job starting mid April, this also might be a stretch. We will see.
- Reduce baby step 2 debt by $1,000. Didn’t hit this goal last month (but came oh so very close!) so this is something I really want to achieve this month.
- Cash flow hubbies dental work. Of course this all depends on whether or not he can even get an appointment.
- Cash flow hubbies eye glasses. We still have a little money in our health savings account, so that could cover either his dental work or his glasses. New glasses aren’t something he can put off getting as he accidentally broke his specs and now has the nerdy tape thing going on. Given that his glasses are at least 3 years old, it is probably time anyway. Plan to get him a spare pair via one of those online stores. Do any of you have any suggestions as we have never ordered glasses online before. Depending on the cost, we also might get him some prescription sunglasses as well.
- Net $500 from my (very) part time job.
So these are my goals for April. I am now ready to tackle the new month! How about you? Have you taken the time to think about what YOU want to accomplish next month?

I have always gone to Walmart for my eye exams and new glasses-even after I actually had insurance because I didn’t know how to chose an optometrist. One time when I went, the optometrist gave me a little laminated card with my eye prescription and my head measurements and told me that that information is always mine to have-no matter where I get my eyes checked. He said to ask for it if an optometrist didn’t give me one in the future so that I could take it anywhere I wanted for glasses-even online. So, if your husband doesn’t get that info from his optometrist, ask for it! That being said, I have heard really great things from Zenni Optical from my friends, though I haven’t tried them myself. Bonus: you can earn SBs if you decide to purchase from there-might help with your Swagbucks goal!

Thank you! Excellent tips and ones I hadn’t thought of.

Hi Lucy, we have used zenni online to order, and they were quick and much cheaper. We were happy with them. You can upload a photo of yourself and then “try” different glasses onto your picture to see how the frames would look.

Thanks! Great tip. We will definitely be checking them out! Sounds like it could be fun, too!

Love Zenni as well! I had to suck it up and put my dental surgery on Care Credit yesterday but I plan to use the 12 mo/ no interest and get it paid off. Chris is having another back surgery next month which half of
Will have to go on that plan.
April goals are to increase my monthly transfers from 180/mo to 240/mo.
Work on swagbucks and surveys instead of playing games all evening

Will definitely be checking them out. Sorry about your dental surgery and having to use Care Credit. Keep pushing forward. You can do this!

My main goal for April is to keep up with my exercise routine. I have been sick for the last week and haven’t been able to go but I was going 4x a week since December. So I’m ready to jump back into it 🙂
